The film tells the story of Ismail who, having escaped persecution in Afghanistan when he was a child, now lives in Europe with his brother. Their mother, who never stopped waiting for news of her children, no longer recognises him. Ismail will meet his family’s fate by reckoning with the senselessness of the war and the history of the Hazara people, to whom he belongs.
